TRADITION IN THE FASTING MONTH

Fasting is a voluntary action by abstaining from food, or all, drink, or both, for a period of time. Fasting is usually defined as the absolute abstinence from all food and liquids for a certain period, usually one day (24 hours), or a few days. Others may just limit the fasting part, to limit certain foods or substances. The practice of fasting can prevent sexual and other activities as well as food.
Fasting is often done in order to perform the worship in a religion or any obligation that should be done according to his beliefs or His religion of Man.
In Islam, fasting (also called shaum), conducted over a full month, the month of Ramadan and concludes with the Feast of Lebaran, refrain from eating and drinking, and from all actions that may break the fast as actions that are not either included in the words , do not fight, keep the mindset, the passions, and also to exercise patience, from dawn until sunset with the intention. Corresponding commands in the Islamic holy book the Koran fasting also helped plant a good attitude. And all of them are expected to continue into the months that followed, and not just in the month of fasting.
In Indonesia, each time coming fasting month "Ramadan" a lot of interesting things to do. Here are some of the activities undertaken during the month of fasting:



A. Welcoming the Fasting Month

1. Discharge berth

Discharge berth is a tradition of self-cleaning to bathing in the river together. Discharge berth is usually not just the event "a shower together", but all event gathered together all family members. The main purpose of self-discharge berth is intended it to run fast in Ramadan. That's just tradition, without having to think too far to address this. Somehow the tradition was always there in every year. Maybe in some areas there is no tradition or just a different term.


2. Pilgrimage



Pilgrimage is an activity with the intention of cleaning the tomb (grave) of family members who have died, but it is also intended to send the prayer. Pilgrimage activities are also used by residents living near the cemetery to clean graves sell services.


3. Shop
This is usually done by the activity of the mothers and daughters just to dawn the first day of shopping needs. Dawn the first day is usually greeted with a delicious cuisine with a goal might be to increase the spirit of the children to go fast.


B. When Fasting 


1. Ngabuburit

The word "ngabuburit" so often heard only in Romadhan, the words of this ngabuburit its wider use, such as: advertisements on television, the writings in the media more and more frequent use and write it down. Thanks to mass media, the words ngabuburit be grounded. The word "ngabuburit" comes from the language. There is also the show "ngabuburit" are packed into the nuances of Islamic events such as "pesantren kilat", tadarus(reading Koran) together, or take part in visits to social institutions and to feel solidarity with the poor. And still others pack "ngabuburit" with clean-up along the road to the mosque or the mosque yard. 


2. Breaking the fast  together


Breaking the fast together is a tradition that has been ingrained in Indonesian society. Where then is the right time to gather with family and friends while eating at a favorite place. This activity is intended to maintain the kinship that already exist. These activities usually take place very lively.
  

3. Tarawih prayer 

Tarawih prayers (sometimes called teraweh or tarawe) is a voluntary prayer performed only in the month of Ramadan special. Tarawih in Arabic is the plural form of  ترويحة  defined as "a moment to rest". The timing of this is the sunnah prayer after the evening ', usually performed in congregation at the mosque. Interesting facts about this prayer is that the Rasullulah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam only ever do it in congregation in 3 occasions. Mentioned that the
